BTC 60-Second Up/Down

RAETH's flagship binary — the 60-second BTC up/down (the 1-minute window — series btc-up-down-1m): every 60 seconds, a fresh contract on one question — will BTC close this window above where it opened? UP pays 100¢ per contract if it does, DOWN pays 100¢ if it doesn't, and a new window starts the moment the last one ends. The series never stops.

Lifecycle of a window

Prelist — while the current window trades, the next window already exists as a pending market, so its symbol and market id are discoverable before the boundary.
Open — at the 60-second UTC boundary the pending window opens, and the oracle value effective AT that instant is recorded as the window's open price.
Trade — for 60 seconds the window is a normal CLOB: resting and IOC orders on the 1–99¢ grid, standard fees and maker rebates.
Close — at the close boundary the settler records the close price from the same feed; trading in the window ends.
Resolve — close above open pays UP holders 100¢ per contract; close below open pays DOWN. Cash settles immediately and the result is final.
Roll — the same boundary that closed this window opened the next one, which has been listed since it prelisted. The cycle repeats around the clock.

Reading the price as a probability

A binary's price IS the market's probability estimate. UP (YES) trading at 42¢ means the book collectively prices a 42% chance that BTC closes the window up: you pay $0.42 per contract for a claim worth $1.00 if it happens, $0 if it doesn't. Buying at 42¢ is profitable in expectation exactly when you believe the true chance is above 42% (before the taker fee — see Fees & Rewards for the θ·p·(1−p) curve).

Warning

Near expiry, prices pin to the boundary: in the final seconds a window trading at 95¢ can gap to 0¢ on a tiny underlying move. Size the last minute accordingly — or be flat for it.
